Beo 5 is a revolutionary remote control that can be customized based on each consumer necessities. According to each individual needs, the remote control can offer the control of every home system, starting from audio-video system till using lighteening systems and windows’ hanging. Thus, loyal B&O customers, owner of the most luxurious cars and boats, may have the opportunity to control their entire home devices with Beo5.

IP Devel, part of Swedish company Enea, has developed and implemented multimedia embedded solution for Beo5 taking into consideration Bang&Olufsen requirements. The manufacturer of high end video and audio products wanted to replace its ten year old remote control Beo 4 with a new modern, intuitive and competitive generation Beo 5 that incorporates color display LCD and touch-screen. They needed our help in order to design and implement an embedded multimedia solution specific to the new remote version.
“The big challenges of Beo5 project were choosing the right hardware architecture and configurable software that take into consideration consumer’s desires. After an industry research, IP Devel suggested solution was an embedded application characterized by a certain set of requirements: flexible and easy adaptable user interface. This solution offers the advantage for every consumer not only to adapt its remote menu according to his desires, but also to have a multifunctional remote control capable to simulate and substitute other remotes.
In order to design the solution, IP Devel worked closely for two years with Bang&Olufsen studying and testing different types of hardware alternatives.
Beo5 can be adapted to every product combination that you have at home. You may even add or remove button and functions. For example, we may schedule your buttons, thus could be used by a lefthander person. From your chair you may control with one remote control your entire audio-video system, but also security systems, air conditioning, etc.
